Welltrain – Training in Drilling, Completion, Workover and Well Services
Welltrain specialises in the design and delivery of operationally relevant courses to the oil and gas industry and in the production of related technical manuals and documentation for the petroleum industry worldwide.
Skills-based training in drilling, completion, workover and well services
Welltrain provides a broad range of skills-based training in drilling, completion, workover and well services. Delivered by experienced industry trainers, our focus is to enhance job skills and performance. Welltrain provides both off-the-shelf scheduled public courses and unscheduled tailor-made training solutions, ranging from stuck-pipe prevention to well control.
Well control and well intervention courses
Welltrain has developed a broad range of operationally relevant scheduled public courses that cover the theoretical and practical aspects of well control for drilling and well servicing operations. We specialise in IWCF-accredited training in well control for drilling and well intervention for surface and subsea certification. Our range of well control courses includes introductory, driller, supervisor and advanced well control.
We utilise two instructors to teach each drilling course, both of which have a balance of training and industry experience.
Introduction course for well control training
Welltrain has a specific one-day course as an introduction to well control training. It is aimed at first timers and personnel from the coal seam gas (CSG) industry who are unfamiliar with drilling and workover, and is designed to help prepare them for a well control school by providing basic introduction to well control issues.
The introductory training gives potential well control certification candidates awareness of well control theory, practices and equipment using a blend of training featuring a drilling simulator and classroom theory / exercises.
Candidates attending this one-day introductory school will get the five-day well control course at a reduced price.
Surface and subsea-drilling well control training
Our five-day training course in surface and subsea-drilling well control is designed for personnel involved in drilling / workover operations, including drilling superintendents, drilling engineers, drilling supervisors, toolpushers and offshore installation managers (OIMs).
It provides the knowledge, understanding and practical skills necessary to apply safe well control practices in surface and subsea installations, and prepares candidates for IWCF testing.
Full course in well-intervention pressure control
The five-day full well-intervention pressure control (including IWCF test) is designed for personnel who have a role in the operation, supervision or planning of well intervention (well servicing) activities in all or one of completion, coiled tubing, wireline or snubbing (hydraulic work over).
This theoretical and practical course provides candidates with an understanding of pressure control methods related to well servicing methods. Completion of the course leads to IWCF certification.
Drilling well control and well intervention courses
Other courses in drilling well control and well intervention include:
- IWCF drilling well control for surface and subsea – three-day refresher
- IWCF drilling well control for surface and subsea – one-day test only
- IWCF well intervention pressure control – three-day refresher
Company-specific and custom training in drilling, completion, workover and well services
All our public courses can be tailored for delivery in-house at a location and time that suits you.
Company-specific and customised in-house courses such as advanced well control, training to reduce unscheduled events (TRUE), stuck-pipe prevention, HPHT, drill the well on simulator (DWOS) and management of drilling problems are aimed at enhancing the knowledge of the professional drilling and engineering staff of the client companies. This unscheduled training can be tailored for delivery in the classroom, simulator, rigsite or a blend of each.
